Randie O’Neil’s New Country Rock Single is her Most Honest

Randie O’Neil hasn’t shied away from confronting her past through her music. Through the lens of her inner child and her job as an adolescent intervention specialist, Randie’s lyrics come from an honest and cathartic place, bringing in a real world perspective. Through her songs, she conveys a message of understanding and courage to face problems that almost all of us experience at some point in our lives.

Randie released her new single “Daddy’s Pride” from her upcoming album, Full Moon Rising. This americana/country rock song has a Bonnie Rait meets Pat Benatar meets Dolly Parton sound and style to it as she sings “who are you to me now?” The song is about a very personal time in Randie’s life; when her stepfather sold her guitars. She grew up in an abusive alcoholic home and “Daddy’s Pride” takes us through that very moment of pain.

As the song escalates, we can hear every single emotion that Randie feels, like we are there watching this moment unfold in real time. The melody is catchy and the lyrics are cathartic. While she sings about her relationship with her stepfather and navigating the world she grew up in, she conveys that she was able to find her own pride. She sings “My daddy never taught me pride” with power and conviction, not letting his behavior define her.
